Quote of the day (on the bailout and small town America)

The inimitable Newscoma had this to say about the bailout and the growing job losses in small town America:

People are hurting everywhere and if one, and I mean, ONE, Wall Street exec gets a bonus for bad behavior, the local sheriff is just going to have to come and get me as I will be stopping traffic in the road.

For context, see this post about the worsening economy in her neck of the woods.

Russ, it's scarier than I can put into words. I'm not Chicken Little but there is some bad economic mojo going on in my part of the world.

I know protectionism is harmful when taken to an extreme, but it seems to me that we really must renegotiate NAFTA and GATT. We've exported too many good jobs and replaced them with nothing but debt and welfare for Wall Street.
