Climate change, Twitter, and billiards
A couple of random thoughts:
Shortly after 7:00 PM tonight, it was still 101°F in Knoxville.
A new computer model of climate change has been released which is able to model global warming over the next ten years. According to a story I just heard on the BBC World Service (no audio link yet), the model was verified by starting in a historic year (say, 1984), playing it forward a decade, and comparing the prediction to historic results. The model proved highly accurate every time. This new model predicts that global warming will stabilize for the next year and a half or so, then temperatures will start to spike rapidly, beginning in 2009.
Did I mention it was still 101°F at 7:00 PM?
This evening, I tried explaining Twitter to a friend who claims he isn't a Luddite. I didn't get very far. He then proceeded to beat the tar out of me in billiards.
I guess it serves me right for calling him a Luddite.
