Quote of the day (on Brittney Gilbert)
Andy Axel, on the Brittney Gilbert kerfuffle, found here and here:
Et tu, PatriotBoy?
Short version of the story: liberal blogger #1 links to some rank, vile wingnuttia, the rankness of which is so self-evident she sees no need to elaborate on the insanity of it. Liberal blogger #2 and his readers see only her post in a vacuum, without commentary, history, or context (and apparently without reading any of her other posts), and assume it's liberal blogger #1's point of view just because she linked to it. When shown their error, liberal blogger #2 and his readers dig in their heels and insist on being offended, not by the racist wingnut, but by liberal blogger #1 for linking to him. Liberal blogger #1 quits her job in disgust.
For the full sordid story of how PatriotBoy and his (usually clueful) readers either deliberately misinterpreted Brittney's intent, are utterly clueless about her blogging history, or are just a herd of self-indulgent asses, see here, here, and here.
Tennessee's blogosphere just lost an important voice because of idiots who don't bother to think or read before clicking the Submit button.
